Film fests, feh. ... eh?
Rats. After today, there's a small but notable price hike on entering the New Orleans Film Fest. This is the part I hate - marketing myself. I'm fond of saying "I'm no salesman." But the C.O.G. would probably be a lot further along if I didn't hold such a distaste for this necessary evil, and I've got a small but growing list of film fests I could submit our latest episode to...

So what do ya'll think? I can think of a lot of ways I could spend $45.00. Is the New Orleans Film Fest worth a damn?

I honestly can't tell you, but I'd also very highly recommend that you talk to Bart Weiss at the Dallas Video Festival. Everything you're doing would be perfect for the DVF, and they might even give a perfect opportunity for that tour you've been wanting to do.

the film fest hasn't been worth a damn since 2001, and i left in 2002. it's a bunch of insiders trying to get close to famous people.

and i know the whole jury process has changed, and it isn't so much representative of the festival attendees anymore.

helpful hints: indicate on your app that you will attend the festival. play up the fact that you are local, and get some people to email whoever's in charge and ask for you. if you can keep your entry from being ghetto-ized into the la filmmaker block, you'll get good attendance, but it's sooooooo political that i don't have anything else useful to say.

That's the info I was fishing for - thanks! Precisely what I was trying to avoid (besides which, I'm really thinking of C.O.G. more as a TV show than a film, and I have a feeling they'd probably look down their noses at our little venture...)
